About the job

Summary

As an apprentice for BFID you will be based in Folkestone and work on Border Force related threats such as drugs, cigarettes, tobacco or threats like human trafficking where your work can support the victims of crime while dealing with the criminal and criminal gangs that try and exploit the UK border. You will work as part of a larger team that is based at Folkestone as they have analysts based around the UK at ports and airports as well as our HQ in Croydon.

As an apprentice for II you will be based in Liverpool, Manchester or Sheffield and work on Immigration Intelligence threats such as abuse of visas, illegal working, small boats or organised immigration crime where your work may support criminal investigations or help to change immigration policy. You will be supported by an apprenticeship cohort manager who will ensure you receive support and integration with teams across the UK

Job description

In this role, you will identify and engage with a wide variety of partners and colleagues to improve the understanding of issues and add further dimension to the analysis. You will be provided with essential training to produce a variety of analytical products and will have the opportunity to improve and develop your work through quality assurance processes and with the support of colleagues and managers.

Responsibilities

The role of Intelligence Analyst requires you to:

  • Undertake qualitative and quantitative research to produce intelligence and/or inform analytical products, including collecting, collating and evaluating information from a wide variety of sources
  • Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues and partners, such as collaborating closely with other agencies to support information sharing
  • Research intelligence and information from a number of internal and external IT sources. Prepare and deliver research summaries and findings such as presentations and reports
  • Support the identification and development of new sources of information and methods of research
  • Be aware of innovation within intelligence to ensure implementation of the latest techniques and methodology
  • Adhere to all legal frameworks, key working principles, policies and guidance

You may be required to carry out other duties within the scope of the grade and within the limits of your skill, competence and training

Essential Criteria:

We are looking for apprentices who:

  • Have good knowledge of Microsoft applications, in particular Excel and Word.
  • Have good written and verbal English skills, paying attention to detail and final presentation of your work.
  • Can demonstrate sound interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills and thrive working as part of a team.
  • Have a strong sense of personal ethics and integrity.
  • Think in an objective and analytical manner.

In order to be eligible, you must hold the following qualifications:

  • Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this prior to taking the end point assessment.
  • For those with an education, health and care plan, or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and Maths minimum requirement is entry level 3.

Please note that if you are successful and are made an offer you will be asked to provide evidence of your qualifications via a video call.
