Fatigue Risk Manager

      • As Fatigue Risk Manager for TUI Airways and TUI Fly Nordic, you will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of fatigue risk management are maintained across the TUI Airways and TUI fly Nordic AOCs in all directorates. Ensuring the airlines operate to an approved Fatigue Risk Management system within the overall Management System. You will report directly into the Head of Flight Operations Regulatory and will have access to the relevant Nominated Persons within the airlines.The role requires a strong leader and manager who has good stakeholder and relationship management skills as well as being knowledgeable in the area of aviation fatigue management. The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of EASA, National and 3rd party fatigue regulations that are applicable to the airlines’ operation.
        This manager will be expected to advise and guide the Accountable Manager, Nominated Persons and stakeholders across the airline directorates in all aspects of fatigue risk management. The role requires an individual who will be the source of regulatory fatigue management knowledge and the first point of reference for all employees requiring clarification on the applicability of the regulation within the airline fatigue risk management programme. This manager will be responsible for leading and managing a small fatigue risk management team.The role may require occasional travel and on call duties.Due to the COVID-19 pandemic our ways of working are a bit different just now with most of our colleagues working from home. Many colleagues worked from home at least a couple of days a week before the current situation, as looking after our colleague’s welfare is important to us. It’s very likely this role will begin with you being based at home, there will be lots of opportunities to connect with your colleagues via technology, and when we can get together face-to-face, we will.How You Will Make An ImpactThere are many ways for you to get involved:
        Maintain an effective and efficient management of fatigue within the overall airline Management System applying a continuous improvement mindset including all procedures, processes, handbooks and manuals
        Design, deliver and maintain a fatigue risk management system that meets the needs of the two airlines and Competent Authorities in the UK and Sweden
        Provide expert fatigue management support to the relevant stakeholders and senior leaders within the airlines to support the overall operation
        Represent TUI Airways and TUI fly Nordic at internal and external forums as the fatigue risk management expert, liaising with our Competent Authorities, TUI Group airlines and Nominated Persons
        Inform and educate the wider airline teams on the requirements of and how to adhere to the principles detailed in the regulations whilst maintaining an operationally and commercially viable flying programme
        Prepare and contribute to the airlines Fatigue Safety Action Group as the main subject matter expert including trend analysis and liaise with Pilot and Crew Management teams as required in investigations
        Maintain good working relations with the appointed fatigue representatives from the respective aircrew unions within the airlines
        Provide advice and guidance in the event of serious incidents or emergencies affecting the airline or our customers.What You Will Bring
        There is more than one way to the perfect fit – here are some of the ideal things:Strong stakeholder management and relationship skills with experience of working at management level within a company, government or similar institution
        Previous experience within an aviation operations environment
        Knowledge or familiarity with risk assessment methodologies, safety management and fatigue risk management systems as used in an aviation environment
        Knowledge or familiarity with crewing and rostering systems
        Strong decision making and policy setting skills in a regulated environment
        Fatigue Risk management experience within the aviation industry. This could include experience gained within an operational, regulatory or consultancy environment
        Strong working knowledge and application of aviation fatigue regulations and guidelines including EU and National regulations
        Strong presentational and written communication skills, particularly preparing policy documents, procedural and process manuals, formal reports and external correspondence
        Ability to work effectively in a complex, matrix organisation or independently as required
        Strong understanding of operational aspects of commercial aviation is desirable
