We currently have an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join our team of customer focused individuals. You will play a key role in resolving waste water problems impacting our customers, whilst ensuring the customer has all the help and support they need.

The role of the Customer Promise Champion is key to our company aspiration to become ‘Leaders in Service’ and supports our day to day goal of living our Customer Promise – “Putting people at the heart of everything we do”. The role sits within the wider Customer Experience department within Service Delivery and is based at our head office site in Buttershaw, Bradford. Although, we are home-working at present and it is expected there will be a hybrid working arrangement in the future with a mix of working from home/office.

What will the role involve?

Day to day you will be speaking with customers on the telephone who have experienced an operational problem such as waste water flooding to their homes and gardens or problems related to our activities on the sewerage network. You will be responsible for driving a positive outcome for the customer and ensuring their journey is seamless and kept to a minimum. To do this you will work closely with the operational owners across the business to ensure a positive outcome and that the customer is completely satisfied. Until the customer is completely satisfied you will be expected to maintain regular contact, led by your customer, to keep them fully informed through to resolution, checking along the way that they are happy with the progress of the resolution and if any further work is required.

 

When customers are impacted by sewage flooding it can be extremely distressing, so a key part of the role is being empathetic to the customers needs and understanding how to handle difficult conversations at times.

What skills are we looking for?

You will represent the face of Yorkshire Water when speaking to our customers, so it is important that you have strong communication and interpersonal skills. We are looking for people who are self-motivated, enthusiastic, that can make things happen for our customers. You will need to demonstrate empathy and understanding of our customers’ needs. You will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and have real desire to get things right first time for our customers.

There will be times where you will need to review data held within our company’s IT systems and therefore, an ability to problem-solve, influence and negotiate effectively with a range of stakeholders is key.

The nature of our work means that at times there is a requirement for colleagues to achieve a high productivity and you’ll be fielding a steady flow of emergencies. It is essential that you can plan and organise your time effectively and work on your own initiative.

You will be required to work within a working window of 08.00 – 20.00 Monday to Friday and be included in a weekend rota on a 1 in 5 basis; you will receive a corresponding Lieu in the week when you work a weekend shift.

Overview of the Programme

Our Strategy and Regulation Graduate Programme will give you a solid grounding in how we manage and develop strategies, programmes and projects to maintain and improve the essential services we deliver for customers and the environment, both for today and long into the future. The Programme will also explore how we work closely with regulatory organisations and changing regulatory requirements to champion great outcomes for our customers.

You will join an exciting team that works right across the business and with many stakeholders to shape the Company’s direction and performance. There will be opportunity to work in a variety of functions from strategy and sustainability, to regulation and corporate affairs, to partnerships and land management. There will be a breadth of experience and activities to help you develop your skills and knowledge over the two-year programme. What will the Graduate Programme involve?

The graduate programme will consist of up to six structured placements across the 2 year programme. You can expect to build a strong understanding of how our business operates and how various functions interact with each other to provide a great service to our 5.2 million customers.

During the two year programme you will work on a variety of projects and it will be your desire to learn and adapt your skills to meet new challenges that will see you succeed on this programme.
